Back Pain No More
Before I started practicing yoga on a regular basis, I was struggling to manage my back pain for over 10 years. After several surgeries and a decade of physical therapy and exercise programs to help recover from disc and nerve issues, I was struggling. I found these activities helped for a while, but my back would inevitably start to hurt again either because I pushed myself too hard as I progressed or I struggled to find the time to participate consistently.
I found that the less forceful approach of the yoga practice allowed my body to develop the strength and flexibility I needed to reduce my back naturally - without the frustration of reaggravating the disc and nerve issues over and over. Yoga allowed me to build more flexibility and better core strength than I have had in years. At this point I can honestly say that the previous pain that dictated my life has been reduced to a minor inconvenience. Through yoga, I also came to appreciate the powerful effect of meditation on my emotional well-being, and how that positive shift further supported and enhanced my physical health.
