Luckiest Day of My Life

When I walked into Greenville Yoga in January 2009 I had no idea what I was getting into.  The changes to my life are profound but challenging to describe.  I appreciate small things by being more present.  While walking or hiking I often notice the sounds and sights rather than ruminating on the past or planning for the future.  Instead of waiting impatient at an appointment I practice Mountain Pose, observe the activity around me or look at the lovely pictures on the wall. I begin each day with meditation. I do a short series of yoga stretches each morning and most afternoons. I practice yoga several times a week.

My body is more open and flexible.  My core is stronger.  My balance is much improved.  Mentally, I see more clearly. I no longer expect things to remain as they are because I recognize the inevitability of change.  I am more forgiving because I recognize that others have challenges in their lives that cause them to act as they do.  Emotionally, I am calmer and regain my equilibrium quicker when I have lost it.  I am better able to be present for others by listening well or offering a kind word.

One of the greatest gifts I have gained from my time at Greenville Yoga is the community.  We learn from each other, lean on each other, listen to each other and help each other in many ways.  The community and my practice has sustained me through difficult times at work, COVID isolation and family health problems.

That day in 2009 was one of the luckiest days of my life!
