Liz Lawrence

Whether you know yoga is good for you, or if it is your first class, Liz will put you at ease.  Her 23 years of teaching experience provides a clarity of instruction so you feel safe, held and free. Liz invites students to slow down in their yoga practice. This allows space between the thoughts as well as time refine and feel each movement, which can challenge even the most advanced practitioner.

Liz’s first introduction to yoga was listening to her mom’s yoga records in the late ’80s, but a love of yoga wouldn’t emerge until years later. After moving from Kentucky to California in the 90s, she was able to explore many of today’s formative teachers and styles of yoga. However, her first class with Max Strom  changed her life for good. In “final relaxation”, her anxious mind went away and for the first time in her adult life, she experienced inner quietude. Liz has been a dedicated student and friend of Max ever since. Liz completed her first teacher training with Max Strom and physical therapist, Sherry Brourman in 2000. She has gone on to study with Max for over 1000 hours since that first teacher training twenty-three years ago.

Over a decade ago, Liz met Sarah Powers, the leading teacher of Yin Yoga world-wide. These teachings changed her life once again, giving her balance she needed to relieve her perfectionist tendencies and to find happiness in the present moment. She has completed over 300 hours of teacher trainings and retreat time studying a combination of Yin / Yang Yoga, Meditation, and Transpersonal Psychology with Sarah and her husband, Ty.
