Kristen Albert

Kristen’s classes are empowering, insightful, and replenishing with emphasis on alignment, breath and inquiry. Her intent is to cultivate mindfulness, exploration, and self-love while holding space for students to attune to the wisdom of their own bodies. Kristen teaches both flow style classes and Yin Yoga at Greenville Yoga, as well as private yoga therapy offerings.

Yoga has been a constant in Kristen’s life for 20+ years and has transformed her life positively and profoundly on many levels. The practice has evolved with her through two pregnancies, raising two wild boys, injury, loss/grief, aging, and most recently perimenopause.  She loves the depth and vastness of the practice that continues to keep it interesting and exciting, both to learn and share with others. Through time her personal practice style and intensity has ebbed and flowed with the seasons of life, but some movement and breath practice has always remained a constant helping her to ground in body, reconnect to heart, to soften, to feel, and to listen.

Kristen began practicing yoga in 2004 as a compliment to her marathon training. Within a few years, her love and enthusiasm for running was replaced with a dedicated yoga practice.  At the time, Kristen was living in Austin, TX where she was blessed with an abundance of amazing yoga that still influences her teaching today.  Because of her gymnastics background, she was immediately drawn to Vinyasa Flow due to its creative rhythmic element that includes strength, balance, and total body awareness. She immediately loved how the practice would make her feel in body and mind.

In 2011, she became certified with Frog Lotus Yoga at the 200 hour level.  That same year, she moved to Greenville, SC with her husband and began teaching yoga.  In 2017 she completed her 300 hour training with Asheville Yoga Center.  This was where she fell in love with Yin Yoga and realized how much she benefited from stillness, self-inquiry, and surrender. Recently, Kristen completed an additional four year 950+ hour Yoga Therapy program with East Coast Yoga Therapy.  Although she still loves teaching group classes in a studio setting, she is also excited to offer personalized yoga therapy in a private setting that allows her to fully tailor the yoga practices and inquiry to each client’s specific needs. She believes deeply in the healing potential of yoga and mindfulness and its effectiveness in complimenting other modalities to improve a clients overall health and well being.

Kristen is certified through Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 200, RYT 500 level and is a Registered Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy C-IAYT.  Outside of yoga, her joys are traveling, spending time outdoors, dancing, music, gardening, reading, plant-based cooking, and spending cherished time with family and friends.
