Reopening Plans

I have received many phone calls and emails asking when we plan to reopen.  The answer, in my mind, is very complex.  We will open when the time feels right for all of us, not just when the state says it is okay.  The current state mandates say we can reopen, however, with only 3-5 people based on the size of our studio and extensive sanitation mandates.  This is not physically or economically sustainable for us at this time (physically due to a shortage of toilet paper and cleaning supplies).  Until we can have access to what we need for our physical environment to be clean and properly sanitized, we will be unable to open.

As of right now, there are no clear answers as to when we will be able to open our doors. Our current plan is to continue with our zoom classes through the end of June.  (Click link that says zoom classes to begin streaming with us.) If it seems safe and we ahve supplies before then, we will open our doors.  Until then we hope you will keep building our virtual community near and far!  I am over the moon grateful to see your names signing up for classes and seeing your faces each day.  Your presence here makes a difference. You truly have no idea how much you all mean to me and all of us at Greenville Yoga.

As we consider what the future looks like for us, here are a few things that will be in place for your continued safety and well-being when we choose to reopen:

  • Classes will continue both in person and via Zoom.  We will livestream all classes from here on out. I have loved seeing our friends from Germany, England, Spain, Michigan, Texas and North Carolina each day.  It feels like a homecoming in a way to see my dear friends and family log into class.  Our continued livestream will hold two purposes. One, to keep our friends near and far connected.  Two, if you are happy and feel safer being at home for any reason, you can still visit and practice with us each day.

  • In person class sizes will be limited to 8-10 students until we know it is fully safe for us to resume our “normal” class sizes.

  • Classes will be available with online prepayment only. No cash or cards taken at the studio.

  • We will no longer offer yoga mats to borrow or props to use in class.  If you wish to order your own, here is what we recommend:

  • Restrooms will be sanitized before and after each class.  Use at your own discretion or bring your own wipes.  Unfortunately, we don’t have enough wipes or manpower to sanitize between each person.

  • Outside doors will be open thirty minutes before and after classes to allow fresh air to circulate.

  • We will teach Ujjayi Breathing in lieu of Ocean Breath (same breath, but with mouth closed) in each class as nose breathing is safer to practice in group settings.

As we look far, far ahead, we have an even bigger plan in place.  As of March 12, we own our own building!!! (Images coming soon of this old gas station brought back to life.)  It is far from ready for us, but Greenville Yoga will have a new home at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021.  Our new location is in the San Souci neighborhood, just a stone’s throw from our current space; near Swamp Rabbit trail, Swamp Rabbit Grocery and SunBelly Cafe.  More details will be shared as we progress, but here’s what you need to know. Our new building (OmHome as Lorraine called it) will have some extra features to help put your mind and heart at ease:

  • Half an acre with woods and a creek behind our building to allow for a peaceful, natural setting.

  • A covered, outdoor seating area for you to visit with friends before and after class.

  • Heated floors to allow you to feel nice and cozy as we open our two garage doors for fresh air.

  • Vaulted ceilings with a HUGE fan for circulation.

  • A state of the art air purification system that decreases germs, viruses, and mold by 98%.

  • A more open space to give you room to practice.

  • A dedicated camera and microphone set up to give those of you zooming from home the best experience possible.
