Give Yoga Another Shot
I’ll be honest: I’ve never thought of myself as athletic, and exercise has never been my thing. I’ve always loved being outside—hiking, backpacking, all of that—but you’d never find me hanging out at the gym. About fifteen years ago, I discovered yoga almost by accident, and to my surprise, I fell in love with it. Back then, I was juggling work, raising kids, and just trying to keep up with a hectic life. Over time, life’s twists and turns pulled me away from yoga.
Three years ago, my husband and I retired and moved to South Carolina. It was a huge shift. I’d spent my whole life in Virginia—my friends, my family, my community, everything familiar was there. I was a hairstylist, so I was used to being around people all day, every day. Suddenly, I was in a new place, with no job, no friends, and no idea where I fit in.
That’s when I decided to give yoga another shot. I tried three different studios before I found Greenville Yoga, and the moment I walked in, I knew I’d found my place. Yoga means something very different to me now than it did years ago. I’m in a tough season of life, and yoga has helped me reconnect with myself. Every teacher here brings something special to the table, and coming to class has become the highlight of my day.
And it’s not just the teachers. The other yogis make this place feel like home. I’ve never felt so welcome, so accepted, so truly seen. I can’t thank you all enough—you have no idea how much this community means to me right now. I love all of you for it.
