A Part of Me
Meet Lizette: Doing yoga helped me find a sense of peace that has continued to this day. I feel like a part of me is missing when I don’t get my morning yoga class in. I feel more content, happier and very little stress. Yoga is me and will always be part of me!!
Yoga has been a part of my life for about 20 years. I took a class in a gym and was not sure this was for me. It was a very slow and methodical practice and I was into more movement. I continued going to yoga, but not on a regular basis for many years. Prior to COVID, I was a member of the Kroc center and did yoga about 4 times a week. I never really felt like I needed or wanted more. When Covid hit I was like, you mean I can’t do yoga in person? I can’t swim? I am a very regimented person. I do some form of physical activity every morning before I start my day and then incorporate yoga. Zoom was an amazing intervention. I started doing yoga daily and some days twice by doing an evening yin practice. I don’t know if it just started out of boredom and openly grew from there.
For me Covid was a time for me to reconnect with what I was doing in my life and people I was associating with. I was able to flush out a lot and slow down with my commitments. I stayed with yoga on Zoom and have taken some in person classes as well through 2021. I was very anxious going to my first in person class at Greenville Yoga. I really was anxious for no reason. Liz has done such an amazing job making sure everyone is in a very safe environment. It is so nice to be able to be in this environment with others and do something that gives me so much joy.
