This year Brian and I had planned to skip teacher training and take a break for a while. Over the past few months, students kept asking us when we would resume our program. Knowing the students that were asking got us a bit more inspired. After several pleas we decided to completely revamp our training. One of the things we have been wanting to devote our time to is leading an in-depth study of yoga and ethics. This is the heart of what we learned from Max- Asana (yoga poses) can only get you so far. You must also maintain strong ethical discipline to begin to live your yoga. In the last weeks inspiration truly struck!
We came up with our syllabus and the first 6 classes are dedicated to a study of ethics and how to live them beyond the yoga mat. What better way to get to know students and then see if they are ready for the next layer of teacher training? Brian and I wrote everything out and sent it to our student / friend who edits our work. As a joke, she added the words “for Nice People” to the title. Then throughout our document she sprinkled little tidbits referring back to the title. I called her to thank her for her additions and told her we loved it. Immediately she started laughing and saying, “You’re joking right?” We were completely serious.
When we read her rewrites, they made sense. Why not be clear about our intentions? Leading teacher trainings is incredibly difficult. It takes time, energy, time away from our family and a LOT of planning. We strive to make our trainings highly personal and we revise for each new group of students based on their needs. Why not ask that this group of 20 be nice people?
So, in all seriousness… Below are details for our next 200-hour Teacher Training. Only apply if you are nice!
Our new teacher training is designed in three segments. Take all three courses to complete the 200-hour Yoga Alliance training or take courses individually to enhance your knowledge of Yoga. If you wish to take Segment 2 or 3 and have not been part of our previous teacher trainings, please contact Liz & Brian for an interview. We will assess if the program is appropriate and a good complement to what you know and what you wish to teach. Through the completion of this immersion, each teacher will leave with a deeper understanding of yoga as a spiritual tradition and a way to transform the body, mind and heart.
Please email Liz if you are nice and interested in attending. firstname.lastname@example.org
