I don’t watch the news and am often out of the loop. Today my sister called with news of Osama BinLaden’s death. I watched Obama’s speech from the White House website and that was enough information for me. It had no “spin”, no attached viewpoint, just information. I hear that people are celebrating and / or doubting (depending on which side of the political spectrum you fall); but what happens to humanity when we celebrate the loss of another life? I am sure there was no other way for this to happen, but do we need to celebrate? To me, this death brings about more fear. I am certain this will be a call to action for his supporters and the killing cycle will begin again. I feel conflicted.
I hope in this time you can find a place of peace- either your place of worship, your yoga class, in nature, or in quiet time alone. Use this place of peace to ask for support for all families who have lost loved ones. Ask for guidance and protection. Ask for compassion throughout the United States and the World. Maybe if you find some peace in your heart, you will be able to share it with someone else who needs it more than you.
