Sequence for Home Practice

triangle

This is a practice I have used at home and when I used to teach the Women’s Health Class.  This isn’t just for women, but is a sequence that will free the hips and allow more freedom for the lower back.  Just breathe deeply and sit quietly in meditation when you are finished to notice how you feel.

  • cat and dog tilts with the breath
  • down dog with a block under each hand
  • move with the breath- inhale into runner’s lunge, exhale hips to heels front toes lift (keep hands on the blocks and do this 3-5 times both sides)
  • down dog with blocks under hands
  • lunge with arms overhead fingers interlaced, palms to the sky (both sides)
  • down dog to forward fold to standing
  • triangle
  • wide-legged forward fold with twist
  • tree
  • kneeling warrior
  • bridge (with or without a block)
  • supine twist
  • happy baby
  • sleeping pigeon
  • savasana- final resting pose
